Hello everyone!
What is this page all about?
Or should i say, hello to everyone that this page concerns. To most people this page may bear no interest what so ever, but I'm using it as a portfolio for my University work. Some of you may or may not know that i am currently (as i write this) studying Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh Napier University. I have just entered my second year, and i thought what would be better than somewhere i can showcase my progress through my course, and also highlight any work that i undertake outside of University that is relevant to my degree.
Some Information On Myself
One of my hobbies actually works very well in conjunction with my course. My love of cars. I currently own a 1994 Mini Sprite, which from the day of passing my test i have had the pleasure of driving, except when i took a year to completely rebuild the car. Doing this taught me how to weld (at a basic level) and how to measure twice and cut once. The later being very important when you are working on a very tight student budget! Besides cars, i love music and having played the violin from a young age, I've been brought up enjoying very opposing styles of music, from classical to drum & bass. Sport is another interest of mine, and as well as motorsport i love badminton. I try to play this as much as possible throughout the week as i find it takes a large chunk of your mind off university.
What Are My Plans For The Future?
This is probably the toughest question people ask me, "What do you want to do when you leave?". I think no matter what degree you do at university it will always be a hard question. I can't pinpoint one specific area or company that i want to work with, but i have idea's in my head that i would love to become a reality one day. I've also thought long and hard about how i want to do my university course. Currently i'm studying a BEng, which is a four year course. In order for me to become a Chartered Engineer i will have to either swap to the five year course (MEng) or another option i was looking at was doing something along the lines of an MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot Watt. On that note, the petroleum side of Engineering does interest me and i would like to get some more information on it and perhaps some experience on site to help me figure out if that is something i would like to pursue. On the other hand, with my interest in cars i would love to work for a company such as Rolls Royce or Jaguar Land Rover (whom i just attended a presentation by). Those kind of companies that are on the leading edge of technology and still hold a prestigious name throughout the world would be somewhat of a dream job for me. I know that i might not be at the most prestigious university, however i am where i am and i will make the best of what i have to succeed as best i can in life.
I will leave this brief introduction where it is just now as it is getting late, but i have a few more updates coming within the next few days.
Thanks
